KUCHING: Kolej Vokasional Kuching welcomed its inaugural batch of students at its registration session yesterday.
Formerly known as SM Vokasional Kuching, it was upgraded to a college as part of the national Transformation of Vocational Education programme, starting this month.
“The upgrade enables students to get a diploma within 3 1/2 years. The college works hard to ensure the expectations of students and parents are met,” said college director Flora Imor Phillips in her welcoming speech.
She encouraged parents to come forward to share their ideas.
“We hope parents will be able to share with us any ideas that could improve education delivery for their children to graduate with diplomas.
“Parents are part and parcel of the college and their feedback is much appreciated,” she said.
A pioneer intake of 150 students was accepted out of 900 applicants from throughout the state.
Diploma courses available include electric technology, electronic technology, automotive technology, culinary arts and industrial machinery.
